Monday

This morning, while I was crossing the street at a crosswalk, I saw a woman sprinting through the intersecting crosswalk—even though the light was red on her side. The light was green for me, so hers was definitely red. A bus honked at her, and to my surprise, she flipped off the driver. The driver, clearly annoyed, honked again. She flipped him off again. Honk. Middle finger. Back and forth. By the time I finished crossing, they had already repeated this exchange three times.
She was obviously the one in the wrong for crossing on a red. Instead of giving the finger, a little “sorry” gesture would have been more appropriate. I just shook my head and thought, “This is the kind of chaos you get in a place where people come from all sorts of backgrounds and follow different rules.” And with that, I headed to the office.
As usual, the hot topic of the day was the state of the women’s bathroom. Apparently, new signs had been added—even inside each stall door. But when I checked around noon, they had all been torn down. In their place? Pee splattered all over the toilet seat. Could the person who tore the signs down actually be the one causing the mess? Is this a declaration of war?
It is finally starting to feel like spring. Daytime temperatures have reached the mid-teens, and the sun is staying out longer. That means more time to enjoy the evening after work. Today, I walked home from the station—it took about 20 minutes. After dinner, I treated myself to some tiramisu I made over the weekend and binge-watched The Apothecary Diaries, which I am currently obsessed with. And just like that, Monday came to an end.
Well done, me.
