Another Week Gone in a Flash

When I was a kid, a week felt incredibly long, but now it just flies by in the blink of an eye. Every single day goes by in a flash, and before I know it, it is already nighttime.

Lately, I have been noticing a recurring issue: I often cannot come up with the English words I want to say. Up until recently, I had been taking English classes after work. But I decided to stop because the next level was going to focus on analyzing poems—something I found incredibly boring and not useful at all.

I used to spend at least five hours a week in an environment where I could practice English with my classmates. Now that that time has suddenly disappeared, I can definitely feel the impact.

At home, I do speak English, but my husband already knows my speaking habits and the words I tend to use, and he does not correct my grammar. Since we are so used to each other, speaking English at home does not really help me improve.

I have been casually looking for new English classes or apps because I feel like I need to do something. To be honest, attending in-person classes after working all day—from morning until evening—and then going straight to school and getting home at 9pm is just too exhausting. So I am mainly looking for online classes or apps.

But so far, I have not found anything that really clicks.

I have tried using apps for dictation and shadowing, and I also practice English conversation with ChatGPT, but none of them have felt quite right.

However, I think I may have finally found something that works: making flashcards of only the English words and expressions I come across in daily life—like when I think, “How do I say this in English?” or “I said it this way, but maybe I should have said it differently.”

I just started yesterday, so I only have around seven words in there, but I plan to slowly add more as I go.
